Dental Implant treatment
What are Dental Implants?
Dental implant treatment includes a metal post or frame made of titanium that is surgically placed into your jawbone underneath the gum line that enables your dentist to mount replacement teeth or a bridge. Dental implants improve overall oral health because they do not have to be anchored to other teeth, like bridges.
What are the different types of dental implants?
Subperiosteal implants: These implants consist of a metal frame that is fitted onto the jawbone just below the gum tissue. As soon as the gums heal, the frame becomes fixed to the jawbone. Posts, which are attached to the frame, project through the gums. Artificial teeth are then mounted to the posts as done in Endosteal implants.
Endosteal implants: These are directly implanted into the jawbone through a surgery. Once the surrounding gum tissue has healed, another surgery is needed to connect a post to the original implant. Finally, an artificial tooth (or teeth) is placed to the post-individually or grouped on a bridge or denture.
Who needs a dental implant?
Anyone missing one, multiple, or even all of their teeth may be due to injuries, disease, defects or decay may need a dental implant. They can also be an option for adolescents after puberty when the jaw stops developing, typically around 18 for boys and 16 for girls.

What are the oral Care specifications for dental implants?
If you are considering dental implants, you need to have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant. In case your bone is too weak or soft and incapable of supporting the implant, you may need a bone graft. In case if there is no bone height is not sufficient in the upper jaw or if the sinuses are near to the jaw, you may need a sinus lift.
